On 26 May 2011, the rules about using ‘cookies’ on websites changed.
This site uses cookies.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files which are placed onto your computer, or another device capable of accessing the internet, when you use a browser to visit a website.
They are widely used in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site.
How are cookies used on vitsoe.com?
On this website, for example, we use cookies to ‘remember’ the language in which you have chosen to view the content. Sometimes, your preference is stored for your next visit to the website, as well as during one session of browsing, so that, for example, you don’t have to keep telling the website what your preferred language is.
By using vitsoe.com, you give consent to cookies being placed on your computer or other internet browsing device.
What if I do not give consent to the use of cookies?
If you object to cookies being placed on your computer or device, you can change the settings on your website browser. Instructions for the most popular website browsers follow:
Chrome
Firefox
Internet Explorer
Opera
Safari
You should note that if you choose to alter the browser settings for cookies, it is possible that your experience of vitsoe.com will be impaired.
Where can I read more about cookies?
We recommend All About Cookies.
A complete list of the cookies used on vitsoe.com, their names, purposes and resources for more information follows:
Preferred website locale
Cookie name: preferred_locale
Purpose: Users of this website are directed to different ‘locales’ which present translated and otherwise localised information according to the user’s IP address (a string of numbers which tells the website about the user’s geographical location). The user may override this automatic function, by choosing their preferred locale. The cookie records this information, so that the user can see all website content in the correct language and/or content which is relevant to their location. This useful information is ‘remembered’ as the user moves around the site, and when they visit the website again.
Hide website locale
Cookie name: hide_locale_hint
Purpose: Visitors to vistoe.com are prompted to change their ‘locale’ if the website detects that there might be a more appropriate website locale for them to view, based on their IP address (see above). Sometimes, though, we want to disable this prompt so that it does not interfere with the process of completing a form, for example. So, this cookie stops the prompt from appearing on some website pages, whilst still displaying localised content in the correct language.
Authenticity token
Cookie name: auth_token
Purpose: Visitors to vitsoe.com can ‘sign in’ to access some parts of the website. This involves entering a registered email address and a password. Once signed in, a cookie is set so that the website will ‘remember’ the user as they navigate around the website. In this way, they won’t have to repeatedly enter their personal information every time they visit a new page. It also means they will be remembered next time they visit.
Shopping basket contents
Cookie name: _vitsoe
Purpose: If you are using our online shopping system and place an item in the electronic ‘basket’, we need to make sure that item stays in your basket as you move through the ordering process. In order to do this, a cookie is placed onto your computer or device, for the duration of the browsing ‘session’. A session usually the period between the cookie being set and the moment that you sign out or completely close your web browser. Find out more about session cookies.
My Vitsœ session
Cookie name: PHPSESSID
Purpose: When customers visit the My Vitsœ section of vitsoe.com they are required to ‘sign in’ to see their product drawings, order history and similar. By setting this ‘session’ or temporary cookie, the user is not required to re-enter or confirm their personal sign-in details every time they visit another website page during one visit. The website browser effectively ‘remembers’ who the user is. Find out more about session cookies.
My Vitsœ
Cookie name: y606user
Purpose: When customers visit the My Vitsœ section of vitsoe.com they are required to ‘sign in’ to see their product drawings, order history and similar. This type of cookie is a more permanent than the ‘session’ cookie, so that when a user returns to the website (even if their browser has been completely closed down), the website ‘remembers’ their personal information and they don’t have to re-enter it to use the website.
Google Analytics
Cookie name: __utma; __utmb; __utmc; __utmzPurpose: Google Analytics is a widely used tool for measuring traffic and engagement statistics on websites. It supplies information to website owners about the behaviour of visitors, so that they can learn more about the success, or otherwise, of website pages and tools. No information which could personally identify a user is recorded. At Vitsœ, we use this information to better organise the information on the website, for example, and to gauge interest in new features. It is possible to “opt-out of sending data to Google Analytics”http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, provided you are accessing the internet through a recent version of a popular web browser.
